Autumn haul

Dear diary,

I have made some recent purchases that I want to share with y'all if you're interested.

I've almost run out of my favorite serum and to benefit from a 20% discount I went into my local Douglas store. I was luckier than I thought as the serum was sold at a discounted price of 67€ instead of 94€, that's more than 20% off. Unfortunately you cannot combine discounts or coupons here in Spain. As I don't own many lipstick I felt the urge to splurge on one, I really wished for a YSL but I tried several shades and textures and none felt comfortable on my dehydrated lips so the lady at the store recommended the Dior Addict and I finally chose the shade 433 which is a medium orange. I also wanted a sort of nude eyeliner to use on the waterline so I settled for a cheap one from BeYu. With the 20% discount I paid 25€ for the lipstick, otherwise 32€ and 6€ for the eye pencil.
Druni haul
What I really wanted to purchase at Douglas whas the Airflash spray foundation from Dior. A few youtubers were raving about this and it made me curious and gollumy (we wants it, my precious!). When they told me it was discontinued I almost cried, but you know me, I'm never defeated. So I started looking for some online stores and I found it at Feelunique. So I used a 5 GBP coupon I got for my birthday and got it for only 24.70 pounds in the shade 300 (I'm hoping this will be a good match for me, I used the Sephora Color IQ).

As my Le Petit Marseillais shampoo and conditioner where a bust I went to my local Druni store and bought the L'Óreal EVERPURE line, I chose the EVERFUERZA aka strength for fragile hair to prevent breakage. This I bought by the recommendation of Estée aka Essiebutton. As for the price, it was around 7€ for both the shampoo and the deep restorative & strenghtening masque, not a bad price if it delivers what it advertises.

A friend of mine was taking a trip to Japan so I asked her to bring me a face mist I'd fallen in love with when visiting Tokyo during Hanami season (cherry blossom viewing). It's my favorite primer as it's so easy and quick to apply, its a very fine mist with a rose scent and it helps to minimize my large pores and keep my make up from budging for the longest time. I also asked her to bring me some fake lashes as I'm finally getting the hang of using them for special occasions: I really don't have the time to put them on on a daily basis. The mist actually is of Korean production from the ARITAUM brand but I haven't found any online store where I can purchase it. It retails for about 10€ for a 60ml bottle. The lashes are nothing special, well, I love them of course but I find that they're really expensive over here and you can buy them at the 100 yen store in Japan, that's two pair of lashes for only 0,80€!!!

My most profitable purchase came in a couple of days ago:
Look Fantastic haul
When ordering two Urban Decay products at Lookfantastic they threw in a mini size 2ml UD Big Fatty Mascara at a 7.50GBP value. So I got their new released Primer Potion with anti-ageing ingredients and an eyeshadow in Asphyxia which is a duo chrome shimmery light purple. I also got another free product sent to me as my purchase was over 30GBP: an eylure lash kit that includes a full size 8.5ml black mascara a full size felt tip black eyeliner a 6ml bottle of lash adhesive with a brush applicator and two pair of lashes: natural full and natural fine, all of this at a 29GBP value. So I got products for a total value of 67.50GBP!!! and ended up paying only 27GBP as I also had a 4 pound discount coupon code.

For the love of finding the best deals,

Dentista

Querido diario,

Gracias Gabi, me has devuelto la sonrisa.

Morning skincare routine

Dear diary,

On weekdays I get up at 6:45 and have a shower where I use some sort of cleanser. Instead of using a towel I take paper tissues to pat-dry my face. I normally use two of them to get my whole face and neck area. I always keep a box of tissues in my bathroom.

First I start with a serum over my face and neck area. Then I gently apply my eye cream by patting it only under my eyes as my eye lids tend to get very oily.

After that I have 3 options:
  1. I use any day cream with SPF30 and then I apply foundation, this I do more during the colder months.
  2. I put on a moisturizing cream, on top of that I put my SPF50 lotion to really protect my skin from sun exposure during the warmer months and then I apply foundation.
  3. I skip moisturizing and go directly to my foundation but I mix a BB cream with SPF50 with a darker foundation in order to get the right tone, as BB creams are usually too light for me, even the darkest tone. This I do when I'm running late but I still put a bit of my SPF50 lotion on my nose as I hate my sunglasses leaving an ugly demarcation.

When I'm using a lower sunscreen factor I set my foundation with my loose SPF50 powder. I have some ugly hyper pigmentation marks on my forehead and jawline but I love sunbathing and I couldn't ever give that up so, instead, I try to protect my skin from further sun damage and hope my foundation is covering up those dark spots.

I'm currently using:

  • Mary Kay timewise 3-in-1 cleanser for combination to oily skin.
  • Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator serum
  • Mary Kay timewise repair volu-firm eye renewal cream
  • Mary Kay timewise repair volu-firm day cream with spf 30
  • ANESSA (Shiseido) perfect essence sunscreen spf 50+ PA ++++
  • ALLIE (Kanebo) BB lotion with spf 50+ PA+++
  • Mary Kay timewise matte-wear cream foundation for combination to oily skin
  • UVLAB mineral powder spf 50 PA+++

Chocolate heaven

Dear Diary,

A couple of weeks ago a customer gave this to me as a thank you gift for speaking English. I was only doing my job, but hey, it should be illegal to turn down a bar of chocolate, don't you think?

Now I wish I had turned it down... Why? Is it that bad? Chocolate and bad shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Au contraire, it's ab.so.lute.ly delicious!

The problem comes here: it's only sold in Norway! I've looked it up online but I've only found an online store in the UK that charges 26€ to ship it to mainland Europe, buahahaha! Now that I'm totally hooked it's almost impossible to get. HELP!

I can't even start to describe how soft the milk chocolate is, how long the taste lingers in your mouth, the wafer you can hardly taste but adds a nice texture and the pinch of salt is just perfection!

Freia Kvikk Lunsj large chocolate bar
The description on the package goes like this:

WHAT IS FREIA KVIKK LUNSJ?

The Kvikk Lunsj chocolate was developed in 1937 as a snack for outdoor activities. The recipe is a delicious, crispy wafer covered with the original Freia milk chocolate. Since then Kvikk Lunsj has become an integrated part of Norwegian's active lifestyle and is the favorite treat when hiking and skiing in the unique nature of Norway.

FYI, kvikk lunsj means exactly what it sounds like: quick lunch.

Now I only need to make some new friends, if they're Norwegian, the better, LOL.

For the love of sharing, (although I don't think I'll be sharing my Kvikk Lunsj with anyone)

Champú para cabellos grasos?

Querido diario,

Suncare products

Dear diary,

Summer is almost over but I'm still enjoying the beach on the weekends. I just came back from a 3-day vacation on my favorite island: Formentera and I wanted to share with you the suncare products I usually take with me on a beach holiday.

My first concern is my hair:
Sunsilk crema de cuidado para el verano
Sunsilk Leave in sun protection cream with UV filters.

It's a UV protection in the form of a hair conditioner, I wet my hair and leave it in. I also reapply each time after swimming. It is a 200ml bottle and it contains hydrating coconut oil which also gives it a clear summer, beachy scent. The price I don't remember but it was very affordable.

For face, three products:
Vichy Capital Soleil 50+ micro-fluide face
Vichy Capital Soleil 50+ protective micro-fluid face for combination to oily skin.

I bought this two years ago trying to find the perfect sunscreen lotion/cream that wouldn't leave my oily skin like a light bulb. As it didn't meet my expectations I carry it with me anyway and have my husband use it instead. It's supposed to be a lotion for combination to oily skin but it doesn't wear well under my make up. It's a 40ml bottle, you have to shake it well before using and it says it has UVB and UVA protection, it doesn't contain any perfume or parabens.
ANESSA perfect essence sunscreen SPF50+
Anessa perfect essence sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ by Shiseido.

This one's perfect to wear under make up. I bought it in Tokyo earlier this year and it's a watery formula that absorbs immediately and doesn't have that particular sunscreen scent that I absolutely hate. It's only 12ml because it came as a gift with a BB cream but I bought a bigger bottle for around 20€, if I'm not mistaken.
Aqua Barrier UV Water SPF 25++
Aqua Barrier UV water SPF25 PA++.

This last one is in spray form and has only SPF 25 PA++ but I though it would come in handy to reapply over make up without smudging it. I haven't used it much and I think it's a bit too thick, I thought it would be more like a watery mist. I also bought this one in Tokyo and don't remember how much I paid for it. It's a 50ml bottle and you have to shake it well before spraying it on, I suppose, because I can't read japanese, lol.
St Tropez SPF50 high protection for face with tan enhancer
St Tropez SPF 50 High Protection for Face with Tan Enhancer.

Last year I bought some St Tropez products because Kandee Johnson swears by them and I wanted to give them a try. It's a cream texture but doesn't absorb too well so I use it on my chest area. It's supposed to have a tan enhancer (that's why I bought it) but I haven't seen any difference from other creams. The price, if a recall correctly, was about 25€.
Vichy Capital Soleil SPF50+ hydra-milk body
Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 50+ Hydra-Milk body

This one I use on my shoulders and any sensitive area where I need extra protection. It's a big 100ml bottle and it's paraben and fragrance free. It's a very thick formula so you need to work it well into the skin but it does a great job. As for the price I can't remember what I paid for it, I bought it from the internet along with some other VICHY products at a huge discount.
Garnier Delial Ambre Solaire Golden Protect SPF20
Garnier Delial Ambre Solaire Golden Protect SPF 20 with light reflecting particles.

I alternate between SPF 20 and SPF 30 depending on how tan I am. It's a golden yellow lotion very much the color of the bottle itself. It's a lightweight but moisturizing formula that absorbs immediately. It features some tiny golden reflecting particles that make you glow in the sun like a vampire out of the Twilight saga. It comes in a 200ml bottle and retails for about 12€.
Clinique lip gloss SPF15
As for lip protection I'm using a lip gloss by Clinique in the shade (I don't know because all the info has faded)-it could be guava gold: a golden tawny peach but that's guessing. I remember it said it had SPF 15. It's long lasting but very very sticky, it's very hydrating and shimmery but I'll look for one with a higher protection factor next year.

I carry all this products in a smaller bag so I can find them easily in my huge beach bag:
Cosmetic bag by Nice Things

Beach bag by ALEHOP

Small bag: came as a present with a magazine, I think. The inside is cloth and the outside is plastic, perfect for the beach. It has a zipper to close it so the products won't fall out and into my beach bag.

Beach bag: 15€ from ALEHOP with a 1€ decorative puppet brooch.

Hopefully I won't have to wait a lot to use this stuff again.

LORAC PRO palette

Dear diary,

A friend of mine is going to visit LA and Las Vegas later this week so of course I had to give her my must haves shopping list for US products.
Lorac Pro palette
image taken from Lorac Cosmetics

I've been dying to get the LORAC PRO palette so many make up gurus rave about and even though I don't own any NAKED palette yet I'd rather have the LORAC one for now. The Urban Decay palettes are easy enough to get here in Spain or on the internet but the LORAC one not so.

I own the Smoked palette and the 15th anniversary one from UD and I love them both but I'd love to have more matte shades. The MAC shadows don't work so well on my lids, they tend to crease a lot so I had to give them away to a friend of mine, hopefully the LORAC will work out fine, if not, I'll make some friend very very happy.

I´ve also seen a good value UD palette sold at Sephora for only 10$: the Deluxe shadow box, I love the  bright colors in this palette, it will be fun to experiment with.

The only other thing I've asked her to bring me is a 217 MAC blending brush, I could buy it here but with the exchange rate it's cheaper to buy in the States and I want to try out this brush because so many people swear by it.

Another friend of mine is going to Chicago and Vegas in a couple of months so I'll have some time to think what to ask her to get me, any ideas?

Chevron fiever

Dear diary,

I'm currently obsessed with Chevron stripes, especially with the multicolored Missoni look alike. I don't usually like wearing too colorful prints but these are so eye-catching and at the same time very elegant but understated, if you know what I mean.

I still don't own anything chevron but that's only because I'm trying to find the perfect piece: would love a maxi dress but with fall coming our way fast and steady I'm thinking it wouldn't be the best of ideas. Although to pair it with my spiked denim jacket would look awfully nice, I think.... hmmmm

Maybe I could start small and order these from Dailylook:

Chevron pendant Chevron bracelet Set of ring and midi ring

Happy chevron to you all!

August empties

Dear diary,

I've run out of some products this month and I'd like to share them with the world.

First of all my hair color in number 4.03 radiant brown:

Excellence hair color in 4.03 radiant brown

It comes with the cream color + developer, a conditioner, a pair of gloves and a leave-in serum to protect your hair before applying the product. I like the comb-like applicator, I find it very useful because I'm not very handy at dying my hair and such. The conditioner is more than fine, it leaves my hair very soft and shiny and I get more that 6 applications out of it so I alternate it with my other conditioners and hair masks until it's time to dye my hair again.

The color on me, after leaving it in for 40 minutes, is a tad darker that what it looks like on the box but only for the first week, after that the color fades a bit leaving a rich dark brown with lots of shine. What I love the most about this product is the leave in serum that makes me feel like I'm protecting my fine and sparse hair from the harsh ingredients.

Previously I was using the Sublime mousse also from L´Óreal in 535 Delicious chocolate and I was pretty happy with that one because it´s cheaper and very easy to apply but there was a discount at my local drugstore for the Excellence creme, so I got that one instead just to try it. Now I'm definitely going to repurchase the creme one because the color stays on my greys for much longer.

Next is another must have, an anti-cellutite treatment: Roc Retinol Multi-Correxion body

Roc Retinol Multi-Correxion body

Nothing special to comment on this product, I got it at my mother's (she loves collecting expired stuff: 12/2010) so I suppose it's a miracle I´ve still got healthy skin on my legs and hips, lol. I'm not going to repurchase it because I bought it a couple of years ago (reduced price when buying a pack of two) and didn't like it much then: didn't see any difference at all. I only used it this time because I hate wasting anything. Hate the smell also, but is there really any one out there that doesn't smell bad?

This product I love because it reminds me of summer and it smells really nice: Garnier Delial Ambree Solaire After sun

Garnier Delial Ambree Solaire After sun

It's my after sun lotion with cactus flower extract 250 ml bottle with a pump (love that), it absorbs immediately and is very cooling and hydrating. I've used it for the last 3-4 years and I'm going to repurchase it next summer as I am now using another brand that was given to me for a purchase at Yves Rocher. Can't remember what I paid for it this time but 2 years ago I got it online for only 1€.

Youth Code booster serum by L'Óreal, 30ml:

Youth Code booster serum by L'Óreal

No, I'm not a huge L'Óreal fan, this has been a mere coincidence. They were giving a free Volume Million Lashes Mascara at Look Fantastic when buying two L'Óreal products, so this was one of them, don't remember the second one.

I though I wouldn't like it because it's cheap (compared with the Estée Lauder one I normally use) but I quite liked it. It's more like a water based serum so very light weight and absorbs immediately. It's excellent at summer because I've got very oily skin and don't need to moisturize a lot but need some hydration under my sunscreen and BB cream. The scent is very nice as well and I like the dropper it comes with. As it's so watery you can really get all the product out of the bottle just by tapping it at the bottom.

I think I paid around 22 pounds for it.

Not much to say about the next one, a small 125ml bottle of skin protecting gel with silk chrysalis extract:

ia gel de baño crisálida de seda

It smells really fresh and fruity so I loved it, it´s a dense, white gel and it contains vitamins A, D and E amongst other skin nutrients. It says to soften and hydrate the skin, and it does. It was given me by a customer a long time ago but I was waiting to take it on a holiday as it is a such a small bottle. When I needed more space in my bathroom cupboard I started using it and I loved it. Maybe I will purchase it in a bigger size but for now I'm sticking to my 1000ml shower gel from Deliplus for 1,20€.

This I got at Look Fantastic as well: Redken all soft argan-6.

Redken all soft argan-6

It's my argan oil treatment for my hair ends. I got a sample from another brand with my Glossybox about a year ago and I loved how it moisturized my hair without leaving it oily, yes I've also got very oily hair. I bought it thinking it would be even better as REDKEN is such a renowned brand but I've not liked it at all. My hair doesn't stay as clean and light as it did with the other. So no repurchase for this one.

My final product is a face powder: Trish McEvoy extra brightening loose powder.

Trish McEvoy extra brightening loose powder

It has lasted me for the longest time, maybe because I didn't really liked it. I also bought this on sale, I'm a sucker for sales, discounts, coupons and such. I bought it at Strawberrynet. It came unboxed, hence the cut in price, I paid about 20$ I'm guessing.

I was starting using make up and I was trying different products until I found the perfect one without wanting to spend a lot of money in the process, it seemed a good price because I thought it would be a bit higher end after, guess what? my L'Óreal (again) mineral powder, but it didn't meet my expectations.

The color matched me almost perfectly but it just wasn't enough for my oily skin, instead of helping set my make up it made my skin produce more oil than it normally would, so no repurchase here either.

This was supposed to be a very short post, I definitely have to learn how to edit...

For the love of sharing,
