LUSH Copperhead shampoo bar #2

Dear readers,

I recently spoke about this shampoo bar from Lush and told you it made my hair look darker after a few washes.

Yesterday I came to the idea of using it for a totally different purpose and it worked so well that I'm still amazed at the results.

Sunday is my make up brushes cleansing day and the most difficult task of all is getting rid of all the built up foundation from my sponge (Beauty Blender or Real Techniques).

To the left the Blendercleanser solid for 16$ (although mine is a mini size that came in a BB kit for 25$) and to the right the Copperhead shampoo bar for 12$

To the left a brand new unused BB and to the right my old BB that I've used for several weeks (on and off as I've also been using the Real Techniques dupe and I sometimes like using foundation brushes as well).

Let me tell you that I haven't seen my BB this clean since I used it for the first time. Even when I used the Bleandercleanser it never, ever got back to be pink all over again.

As I've sometimes used shampoo to clean by brushes I thought, why not try with the Copperhead shampoo that was lying around my bathroom sink?

The result was just WOW!

As this shampoo foams up like nobody's business I think it helps get deep within the core of the sponge and take all the dirt out in no time.

For those of you with skin issues you can always use an antibacterial soap as an extra step and give the sponge a final wash to get rid of all the unseen bacteria.

This is what I was using to clean my make up brushes and sponges until I stumbled upon the Copperhead shampoo trick.

How often do you deep-cleanse your make up tools?

Bathroom remodeling

Dear readers,

I'm still going through my first writer's block since I started my blog but I won't let it stand in the way of uploading three times a week like I promised myself in January #NewYearsResolutions.

In December we had some home remodelling done; which included a paint job, new windows, replacing or reupholstering furniture, adding some decoration and of course, getting rid of THE clutter.

As the warmer months are nearby we decided to take it a step further and remodel our tiny bathroom. Yesterday we spent the afternoon looking for ideas and I took some pictures to help us decide later on.

We both liked these two entirely different style of tiles: above the Japanese Seikai Ha in black and white and below a grey tile with Swarovski-like waves.

A great idea for storing all of our (mainly mine) bath products in the shower. I really hate those annoying plastic or metal shower caddies or whatever they are called.

The hubby liked this tile that resembles old or reclaimed wood and it's growing on me too. What do you think?

This gorgeous sink is made out of one piece of marble so it weighs a ton or maybe even more. It's rather expensive but we only have one bathroom, so why not?

And finally we agreed on the shower head, we both like this one, but instead of the shiny silver we would like it in the antique golden tone of the faucet handle on the right (middle one, second row down).

Thanks for bearing with me,

LUSH Full of Grace: alternative use

Dear readers,

All the available online reviews should make it easier for us customers to decide which beauty product will "most" probably suit us, and it does. Up to a point, that is. There's still a slight chance that the declared must-have beauty item by many reviewers turns out to be a disappointment for others.

But this post is not about that, I wanted to share with you how I deal with those "disappointing" products. I'm not saying they are bad products, just that they haven't worked out for me for some reason.
Lush Full of Grace

For example: take the Full of Grace serum by LUSH Cosmetics.
This solid serum bar features a blend of oils that keeps your skin moisturized. I have very oily skin and though I switched over to night time use it still felt too heavy and greasy for my taste. I like using serums and I love Lush products, especially for their scent so I was very sad to see this wasn't working for me.

I hate wasting products so I'm always trying to use them up anyway or finding an alternative use before completely giving up on them.

Although I have oily skin I suffer from severely dehydrated lips. One evening I was busy with my skin care routine when I came upon a piece of this serum and it occurred to me to apply it to my lips like a chapstick. The following morning I woke up to the most amazingly baby-soft lips, and yes, I've tried the Nuxe rêve de miel and many other super hyped lip balms. But none of them can compare to this gem. It's even better than my trusted old Purol salve, a Dutch miracle product for dry and rough patches.

What's your favourite lip balm?

2015 Wedding inspiration with Lover.ly

Dear readers,

I never had the chance to shop for a bridal dress as we both agreed on having a small and intimate wedding with a very casual dressing code. The hubby wanted me to make a statement on my cultural heritage so I borrowed a gorgeous two-piece Indonesian batik dress from my mum.

When Lover.ly asked me if I was interested in participating in their Dream Day Style Challenge I jumped at the chance. Who doesn't like to play dress up?

Lover.ly is the bride's digital BFF for inspiration and planning. It's a one stop shop for everything wedding related, it's like having your own wedding planner on call 24/7.

I went for a winery wedding as we are both into wines and enjoy visiting wineries. One of my best friends got married in a gorgeous winery in the La Rioja region in Spain and it was such a gorgeous scenery that I think many of you would enjoy a romantic wedding surrounded by vineyards. Plus you have an unlimited supply of wine for the dinner banquet, lol.

For that wedding my friend was wearing an unusual pink dress and her twin-sister was dressed in white: most confusing! I think you shouldn't wear a white dress as a wedding guest in general terms but this totally depends on each particular situation. You'll only need a bit of common sense and always ask for the bride's approval first.

Wedding inspiration

I think that the dress that I picked out from Lover.ly's website pairs perfectly with the venue as it seems like someone splashed a glass of wine over it. This perfectly reflects my personality as I don't take weddings too seriously. You should have fun preparing your wedding and not stress out too much about things going the "wrong" way. The only thing that matters is looking in the eyes of your loved one and hear him/her say these two words: I do.

And, of course I added some inspiration for make up and accessories. I went for a nude make up with a tiny bit of shimmer and a very simple hairdo with romantic curls.

10 TV Shows featuring strong, independent women

Dear readers,

I grew up as a TV-obsessed child and many, many, MANY moons later I'm still hooked to the TV albeit in a modern version, as I tend to watch everything on my iMac nowadays.

This past year I've been rewatching TV shows like a madwoman and I wanted to share them with you. While I was running the titles in my head I realized they all have one thing in common: their women characters are all intelligent, brave, independent and strong.

Kerry Washington plays the character of the impeccably dressed Olivia Pope, head of her own crisis management firm that specializes in covering up many private and even state scandals.

Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere both star in this TV show as Rayna James and Juliette Barnes: two huge country music divas that are fighting their way up or just trying to maintain their ground.

Julianna Margulies makes an awesome interpretation of a wife and mother of two (Alicia Florrick) who needs to get back in the game as a litigator in a successful firm after her husband is arrested for corruption.

Even though it seems that only men run this show don't be fooled. Donna Paulsen, played by Sarah Rafferty steals the show with her no-bullshit approach, her compassion and her excellent skills for reading people's minds and personalities like they are an open book.

Nikki Heat or Kate Beckett? They are one and the same, Stana Katic interprets a NYPD detective that is trying to find her mother's killer in between cases. The writer is just allowed to tad along and play the Watson to her Holmes.

My favorite character from Friends rocks on her own. In Cougar Town, Courtney Cox plays Jules Cobb a 40 something recently divorced but successful real estate agent that is surrounded by the most peculiar characters. Warning: wine is needed to fully enjoy this show.

You'll never feel alone at the top if your BFF's are only a phone call away. Nico, Wendy and Victory may be extremely successful but that doesn't mean they don't have problems like the rest of us. With Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price.

Although I can't categorize Ronnie/Veronica (Taylor Schilling) as being an independent woman (she rolls back and forth between her husband, her lover and her parents) but she's a kickass nurse that doesn't bite her tongue and goes out of her way to help her patients.

For a more fun and laid down TV show I have to recommend Chuck. He would be nothing without the help of the gorgeous and deathly Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski). A hilarious spin to the commonly exploited secret agent plot.

And I've left the best for last: Dame Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess of Grantham needs no introduction, her spicy remarks are worth to remember for later use. Thank you for your talented script writing, Mr. Julian Fellowes.

What TV-shows are you watching lately? Any recommendations?

Out of order #3: currently reading

Dear readers,

You'll have to excuse my laziness but I'm not feeling up to blogging today. I'll just mention this book that is stealing my free time.

A hired murderer, an ex CIA converted to monk, a millionaire and his wife, a scientist capable of the most hideous crime, they all are looking for the same thing for different reasons: a secret and hidden treasure that will blow your mind.

Simply Supplements Marine Collagen cream

Dear readers,

When I visited Tokyo two years ago I couldn't stop noticing all the different brands of collagen drinks that were sold in every beauty store; drugstore and high end. Back then I thought it was a weird trend and didn't bother to do some research but now I'm totally convinced Japanese women are way ahead of us western girls.

I was sent this Marine Collagen cream by Simply Supplements to write a review and share my honest thoughts with y'all. So, with the disclaimer out of the way, lets focus on the task on hand.

Marine Collagen cream by Simply Supplements

What is Collagen?

Collagen is an important protein that you can find in your body. Tissues like bones, joints, skin and blood vessels cannot be built without collagen. The way your skin ages has to do with the amount of collagen you have left. The collagen production starts to decrease once you've past your mid 20's and it almost comes to a stop when you reach your 60's which leads to loss of firmness, appearance of wrinkles and dry skin.

What's different about Marine Collagen?

It's a fibrous protein that's taken from fish scales and is odorless and tasteless. It's said to be safer than animal collagen (pork, beef, chicken) as it doesn't cause any side effects, although this has still to be proven on a long term run.

Cosmetic benefits:
  • it slows aging due to its antioxidant properties
  • it moisturizes
  • it plumps skin cells
  • it prevents & repairs damage caused by environmental factors (such as UV rays, low humidity, etc)
  • it's unscented and oil-free

And now for my thoughts on this cream that I've been using for the past 3 weeks:
  • it's truly unscented, not that I'm particularly interested in this but I know a lot of you are.
  • it's a thick formula that feels very nourishing and hydrating, although it doesn't feel sticky or greasy.
  • it takes a few minutes to sink in so you can treat yourself to a little face massage while applying it. I'm personally enjoying this part.
  • I feel like its too rich for me to wear it under my make up as I have very oily skin, but I very much enjoy using it at nighttime and on my no make up days.
  • I've noticed a plumping in the deeper wrinkles I have on my forehead. Particularly two deep vertical frown lines I had between my eyebrows and that were driving me crazy just magically disappeared.

My final verdict:

I will continue to use the cream although I'm more interested in getting the collagen tablets as I think it would not only be more effective to help producing collagen from the inside it will also help in keeping my joints, tendons, ligaments and bones, healthy. Of course it must be even better to combine the use of both.

As a second disclaimer I want to mention that even though a skin care product contains all natural ingredients it can still cause irritation or allergic reaction. I have a bullet proof skin and have never had issues with any kind of skincare product so don't take my word on this or any other advice as what works for me may not work for you at all.

If you're interested in this product head on over to Simply Supplement's website and take advantage of their free UK standard delivery. Keep up to date with any discounts or sales they may be offering by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
